Manitoba has released its February flood outlook, indicating a low-to-moderate risk of significant spring flooding across most of the province’s basins.

The Red, Assiniboine, and Pembina rivers, along with the Interlake region, face a moderate flood risk, while other rivers, including the Roseau, Rat, Saskatchewan, and Churchill, are at low risk. Water levels are expected to stay below community flood protection levels, and most Manitoba lakes are projected to remain within normal operating ranges after spring runoff.

The Red River Floodway and Portage Diversion are unlikely to be used unless unfavourable weather conditions arise. Minimal operation of the Portage Diversion may be required to manage ice-related water level changes on the lower Assiniboine River.

The full 2025 Spring Flood Outlook Report is available online. The next update is expected in late March.
