The 6th annual A Viking’s Challenge is set for this weekend, inviting participants to run or walk across frozen Lake Winnipeg or in their own communities to support cancer patients.
Founded by Stage IV melanoma patient Chris Isfeld in partnership with the Save Your Skin Foundation, the event raises funds to help cover treatment costs, travel, and other expenses for those battling cancer.
“My spirits are high, and I’m not throwing in the towel,” said Isfeld. “This March 8-9, I’m challenging you to lace up and join us for the 6th edition of A Viking’s Challenge on Lake Winnipeg. Whether you’re running or walking, you can participate anywhere! Let’s move our bodies for a fantastic cause.”
Since its launch in 2020, the fundraiser has collected over $75,000. This year, Isfeld is unable to participate due to a cancer recurrence, but his friend Shawn Bjornsson and others will run in his honour.
All proceeds go directly to patients, and participants will receive a charitable tax receipt. More details can be found at Save Your Skin Foundation’s website.
