Winnipeg police arrested a 29-year-old man early Wednesday after a chase and crash involving a stolen vehicle.
Officers spotted a red RAM 1500 pickup truck with an improper licence plate near Logan Avenue and Sherbrook Avenue. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away. Air 1 was called in to track the vehicle, which ultimately crashed at Higgins Avenue and Main Street. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Police later confirmed the 2017 RAM had been reported stolen on March 3 from the 3100 block of Pembina Highway. Officers also seized a canister of bear spray.
The suspect, whose name wasn’t released, faces multiple charges, including possession of a weapon, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order. He remains in custody pending a court appearance.
