Winnipeg police, in partnership with Manitoba Motor Carrier Enforcement, conducted a targeted operation this week to ensure compliance with transport vehicle hours of service regulations.

The operation, dubbed Project RODS (Records Of Duty Status), was carried out on Wednesday to prevent driver fatigue and enhance road safety.

The enforcement effort resulted in:

  • Four commercial drivers placed on regulatory shutdown for 72 hours each.
  • 17 tickets were issued, five under the Highway Traffic Act, one under Manitoba Regulation, and 11 under the federal Commercial Vehicle Driver’s Hours of Service Regulation, totalling approximately $32,000 in fines.
