Winnipeg police have arrested a 22-year-old woman after multiple passengers were assaulted on a city transit bus on Monday.

According to police, the suspect appeared intoxicated and aggressive, initially confronting two random passengers near Balmoral Street and Sargent Avenue at around 4 p.m. She then allegedly pushed one passenger and elbowed a woman in her 20s in the face. The assault escalated when a man in his 50s was punched, bitten, and had his hair pulled out.

Bystanders intervened and restrained the suspect until police arrived. The male victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition, while the female victim declined medical treatment. The two passengers of the initial altercation left before they were identified.

The suspect has been charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm and was released on an undertaking.

Police are continuing to investigate and are working with Winnipeg Transit regarding the incident.
