Winnipeg’s iconic Whiteout Street Parties are returning this spring as the Jets chase the Stanley Cup.
The street parties will once again take over Donald Street outside Canada Life Centre during every home playoff game. Up to 5,000 fans can gather to watch the action live on big screens, and enjoy food trucks, music, giveaways, and other festivities.
The Manitoba government is contributing $300,000 to support the events throughout the playoff run.
True North Sports + Entertainment, which is hosting the parties, is also receiving support from the city and Economic Development Winnipeg.
“The Winnipeg Whiteout Street Parties have become part of our city’s Whiteout traditions,” said Kevin Donnelly, True North’s senior vice-president, venues & entertainment.
“Our fans created the Whiteout, evolved it to the phenomenon it is today and continue to be the essence of the Winnipeg Jets’ playoff celebrations. The Whiteout Street Parties are more than just a celebration of our team, they are a celebration of our fans and their desire to share their excitement and passion for our team in a community setting.”
Half of each $10 ticket will be donated to United Way Winnipeg to support programs tackling homelessness, addiction, and mental health. To date, the initiative has raised more than $312,000 for local organizations.
Fans with tickets to games inside Canada Life Centre can access the street parties without a separate ticket.
