A Winnipeg man has died following a collision between a motorcycle and a three-ton truck Saturday afternoon on Highway 9 near Mitchell Bay in the RM of St. Andrews.
Selkirk RCMP responded to the scene around 4 p.m. and found the 30-year-old motorcyclist had been pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the southbound motorcycle collided with a truck that was turning west onto Mitchell Bay.
The driver of the truck, a 67-year-old man, had his driver’s licence suspended under the Highway Traffic Act. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
Highway 9 was closed in both directions for several hours as officers and a forensic collision reconstructionist investigated.
The RCMP investigation is ongoing.
