Manitobans can expect to receive a test message from the National Public Alerting System, Alert Ready, on Wednesday afternoon.
The alert will be broadcast at 1:55 p.m. CT on television, radio, and compatible mobile devices as part of a routine test conducted by Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Emergency Management Organization.
The goal is to ensure the system works properly in real emergencies and to familiarize the public with what alerts sound and look like.
While many residents will receive the alert on their phones, some may not due to factors like device compatibility, LTE connection, software settings, or cell tower coverage.
