WINNIPEG — A new partnership between Red River College Polytech and the University of Manitoba is opening doors for local students to pursue engineering degrees without leaving the province.

Starting in Fall 2025, up to 10 graduates per year from RRC Polytech’s engineering technology programs will be eligible for direct entry into the U of M’s civil or mechanical engineering degree programs through the Price Faculty of Engineering. The agreement also applies to alumni who graduated within the last 10 years.

Officials say the initiative aims to streamline student mobility and retain skilled workers in Manitoba. It offers dual credentials and is expected to support economic growth by addressing industry demand for trained engineers.

Applications are now open for graduates from RRC Polytech programs, including mechanical, municipal, structural, geomatics, and environmental engineering technology. The deadline to apply is June 1, 2025.

Expansion of the agreement is planned for Fall 2026, with new pathways into UM’s biosystems, electrical, and computer engineering programs.
