A 29-year-old man is facing a dozen charges following a violent home invasion in Winnipeg’s North End.

Police say around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, a man and another individual showed up at a residence in the 300 block of Church Avenue and began banging on the door. When the 53-year-old occupant answered, an argument broke out, and the suspect forced his way inside while armed with a pellet gun. He allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim before fleeing.

The victim was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers later arrested the suspect at an apartment building on Church Avenue. A search of the residence turned up a loaded Remington 870 shotgun and an air pistol, both of which were seized.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS.
