WINNIPEG — Dogs and their owners in Whyte Ridge have a new place to play year-round with the opening of a permanent off-leash park behind the Whyte Ridge Community Centre.

The fully fenced, all-season dog area at 145 Cloverwood Drive opened Saturday, replacing a seasonal setup previously located in an outdoor hockey rink. The quarter-hectare park features seating, waste bins, and a gated entry.

“This is an exciting day for humans and canines alike in the Whyte Ridge community,” said Coun. Janice Lukes (Waverley West). “There are a lot of adorable, active four-legged friends in this area, and I’m so proud to be part of bringing them a year-round place to play.”

The project came with an $80,000 price tag, funded by the city.
