Manitoba RCMP are searching for a suspect after a violent home invasion and abduction on Lake St. Martin First Nation on August 1.

Mounties responded to reports that an armed man had broken into a home and possibly taken two young children at around 10:30 p.m. Police say the suspect, known to the residents, entered the house with a homemade weapon and threatened the eight people inside — four adults and five children.

Seven of the occupants, including three children under 12, managed to escape. However, two infants remained inside with the suspect.

RCMP officers entered the home and found a one-year-old child safe and asleep, but the suspect and a two-year-old were missing. A short time later, the missing toddler was found unharmed at a nearby home. The suspect was not located.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Allan Marsden, 29, of Lake St. Martin First Nation. He is described as 6 feet tall, 198 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Gypsumville RCMP at (204) 659-2682 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
