An Ontario man wanted in connection with a 2024 fatal crash near Altona, Manitoba has been arrested at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
Navjeet Singh, 25, was taken into custody on Thursday by Peel Regional Police and the Canada Border Services Agency after arriving on an Ethiopian Airlines flight. He had been the subject of a nine-month Canada-wide warrant.
The charges stem from a November 15, 2024, collision at the intersection of Provincial Roads 201 and 306, where RCMP say a semi-trailer failed to stop and struck an SUV. The 35-year-old female driver died at the scene, while her eight-year-old daughter later died in hospital.
Singh, who previously resided in Brampton, was charged days later with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and obstructing a peace officer, but evaded arrest. He will be returned to Manitoba in the coming days and remanded in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
