A 34-year-old Winnipeg man is in custody after a dramatic police pursuit in the RM of Rosser on Wednesday, September 3.
RCMP were called around 8:50 a.m. about a suspicious vehicle in the Inkster Road industrial park. Officers found the vehicle parked near Bergen Cut Off Road with stolen licence plates and the driver asleep.
When approached, the man reversed into a police vehicle before speeding through a chain-link fence and fleeing into a field. RCMP deployed a drone, emergency response team, and a police dog to track him down. The vehicle, reported stolen near Headingley, was later found abandoned on Lucas Avenue, and the suspect was safely arrested.
Lee Stewart, 34, of Winnipeg, faces charges including flight from police, assault, mischief, dangerous driving, and possession of property obtained by crime.
He remains in custody.
