Winnipeg police have arrested three people following a vehicle break-in that targeted out-of-town visitors on Waterfront Drive.
At around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers discovered a rental vehicle with a smashed rear window and a stolen backpack containing an iPad. Using tracking technology, officers traced the iPad to a nearby encampment, where a man and woman were arrested.
The backpack, which also contained an AirTag, was later located near Vaughan Street and Portage Avenue, where officers arrested a third suspect wearing it.
A 39-year-old man, a 42-year-old man, and a 34-year-old woman are each charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. All were released on appearance notices.
