Manitoba Hydro has launched a province-wide inspection of natural gas meters and regulators.
Hydro employees and contractors are set to visit 90,000 homes and businesses over the next 12 to 14 months.
The audit is part of routine safety and reliability measures and is separate from regular meter readings. Inspectors will examine gas meters, which track natural gas use, and regulators, which control gas pressure. These devices may be located outside or inside a property.
Manitoba Hydro says workers will wear branded high-visibility clothing and carry official photo identification. They may request access to indoor meters but will not ask for personal information such as names or account numbers.
Visits will take place from sunrise to sunset, with extended hours possible in rural areas. Customers with questions about the audit can contact Manitoba Hydro at 1-888-624-9376 or (204) 480-5900.
