The City of Winnipeg and Wildewood Golf Club have officially broken ground on a new 2,300-square-foot clubhouse at the long-standing Fort Garry golf course.

The city is contributing $1 million toward the project, while the golf club, which leases the course from the city, has led additional fundraising and planning efforts.

Construction began in late July and is expected to be completed by spring 2026, ahead of the club’s 75th anniversary season. The new facility will feature a full-service restaurant, an outdoor patio overlooking the ninth fairway, and a pro shop.

“We appreciate the confidence that the city has expressed in our efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of this most important community asset,” said Ross McGowan, president, Wildewood Golf Club. “We are very grateful for the contribution of the city toward the clubhouse development.”

The city’s four municipally operated golf courses — Windsor Park, Kildonan Park, Crescent Park, and Canoe Club — remain open for the season at reduced fall rates.
