The Health Sciences Centre Foundation has received a $1 million donation from Canada Life in support of its Operation Excellence campaign, aimed at transforming surgical care in Manitoba.
“With the support of Canada Life and all our donors, Operation Excellence is transforming how care is delivered at HSC,” said Katie Hall Hursh, board chair, HSC Foundation.
The donation was presented on Thursday at a news conference in Winnipeg.
“Philanthropy drives innovation and excellence in health care, and this latest gift from Canada Life is a powerful example of that commitment in action,” Hall added.
Operation Excellence has already funded several major upgrades, including Manitoba’s first surgical robot, new ultrasound systems, advanced spine surgery equipment, and a neurosurgical navigation system. These improvements are helping reduce hospital stays and wait times while improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Chris Christodoulou, interim president and CEO of Shared Health, said the donation is helping transform surgical care in Manitoba through advanced technology and improved surgical environments.
