A 35-year-old woman was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stealing a vehicle and crashing it into a garbage bin in Winnipeg’s West End.
Police say at around 8:15 a.m., the suspect entered an unlocked, running 2018 Chevrolet Equinox in the 1–99 block of Lydia Street and reversed into a large metal bin, causing about $2,500 in damage.
The vehicle’s owner and another man confronted the woman and pulled her from the SUV. Police say she assaulted both men during the struggle, though neither was injured. Several bystanders helped detain her until officers arrived.
Stacey Lane Eaglestick has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of assault. She remains in custody.
