Manitoba RCMP have charged three teenagers after a 66-year-old man was accidentally shot while outside his home in the RM of Victoria on Tuesday.
Police say they received a report at around 10:45 a.m. of a man suffering from a gunshot wound at a residence on Road 53 North. The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition with an arm injury and was later released.
Investigators determined the shot came from a group of young hunters — a 14-year-old girl and two boys aged 16 and 17 — who were firing in a nearby field. All three were arrested without incident.
They are charged with careless use of a firearm, discharging a firearm while being reckless, and assault with a weapon. The girl and the 16-year-old boy also face charges for unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Treherne RCMP continue to investigate.
