Winnipeg police have made multiple arrests and seized more than $40,000 in drugs following two unrelated drug-trafficking investigations.
Earlier this month, police launched an investigation into illicit drug activity at a home in the Lord Selkirk Park area. On Friday, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue.
A 37-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman were taken into custody. Officers seized about 88 grams of crack cocaine (worth $7,040), 64 grams of black-market cannabis, more than $3,600 in Canadian cash, and a small amount of U.S. currency. Both suspects were charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and released on undertakings.
In a separate investigation on November 26, police executed a warrant at an apartment in the 200 block of Adsum Drive. Two suspects — a 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman — were arrested after officers seized approximately 374 grams of cocaine ($30,000), 8 grams of fentanyl ($2,400), more than $11,000 in cash, drug-packaging materials, identity documents, a cellphone, and about $62,500 in jewellery. Both suspects face drug-trafficking charges and were released on undertakings.
Police say both investigations remain ongoing.
