Manitoba RCMP are investigating after a counterfeit $100 bill was used to buy merchandise at a Neepawa business on November 19.
Police were called to a Mountain Avenue business, where staff handed over the bill to officers, who noted several defects indicating it was fake. Investigators are now checking whether additional counterfeit notes may have been passed at other locations in town.
RCMP are seeking to identify the woman who used the bill and are asking anyone with information to contact the Neepawa detachment at (204) 476-7340.
Staff who suspect a counterfeit note should refuse it, ask for another form of payment, and notify police. Anyone who discovers they may have received a fake bill should also turn it over to police, who will return it if it is found to be genuine.
The investigation is ongoing.
