WINNIPEG — The federal government is providing $7.5 million toward the first phase of a major expansion at the Dakota Community Centre.

The funding, announced by Winnipeg South MP Terry Duguid on Monday, will support the development of a new, fully accessible arena and expanded recreational facilities at the centre. Plans include new dressing rooms, a rink, a modern fitness area and ice plant, as well as expanded childcare space and additional multipurpose community rooms.

The expansion is intended to improve accessibility, boost energy efficiency, and enhance sustainability.
