Two people were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in a two-storey apartment building in Winnipeg’s West End Thursday evening.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded at around 6:04 p.m. to reports of smoke and flames coming from a building in the 600 block of Ross Avenue. Crews entered the building and attacked the fire from inside, bringing it under control by 6:41 p.m.
All residents safely self-evacuated before firefighters arrived. Paramedics assessed two people at the scene and transported them to hospital in stable condition.
Damage was contained to the suite where the fire started. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and damage estimates have not been released.
