WINNIPEG — The Burton Cummings Theatre recorded its most successful year to date in 2025, setting new records for performances, sell-outs, and total attendance.
The 1,579-seat Winnipeg venue hosted 115 performances during the year, including 27 sell-out shows, drawing more than 122,000 attendees. From January through October, 90,355 tickets were sold, placing the theatre among the top five Canadian theatres for ticket sales, according to live entertainment industry publication Pollstar. The Burt also ranked 75th in North America and 92nd worldwide.
Momentum surged in the fall, with October and November both setting monthly records. October featured 17 events, seven sell-outs, and more than 20,000 tickets sold. November followed with 18 shows and the highest paid attendance in the theatre’s history at 21,977, including nine sold-out performances. Artists during the two months included The Beaches, Wyatt Flores, Jessie Reyez, and Burton Cummings.
Since taking over management of the theatre in 2014 and ownership in 2016, True North Sports + Entertainment says it has invested more than $2 million in upgrades and revitalization efforts. Improvements have included accessibility enhancements, interior and exterior renovations, a new sound system, stage replacement, rigging upgrades, and backstage renovations to support increasingly complex productions.
TNSE will mark 10 years of ownership of the Burton Cummings Theatre in April 2026.
