Manitobans can now apply for and use a digital health card on their mobile devices, the provincial government announced on Monday.

The digital card allows residents to securely store and present their health card information on a smartphone, reducing the need to carry a physical card. Manitobans can choose to have a digital card, a plastic card, or both, and those with existing paper or plastic cards can request a digital version at any time.

The launch coincides with MediNav, the online appointment-booking system introduced in 2025, which allows users to find and book appointments at participating clinics across the province.

“Over the past year, we’ve moved from paper health cards to plastic and now to a digital option,” said Premier Wab Kinew. “It is a practical step that reflects our focus on patient safety, accessibility and putting people first as we make health care better for families.”

The digital health card is available through the MB Wallet app, which can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play. The app also allows offline access to credentials.

The province says the move is part of ongoing efforts to modernize health care services, improve accessibility, and support patient safety.
