A man alleged to have spray-painted hate-related graffiti on Winnipeg buildings is facing new charges, stemming from the day he was released from police custody.
Winnipeg police say Oliver Didtger Ederhof, 34, was arrested on January 9 following a break-in at a home in Crescentwood.
Police responded at around 11:30 p.m. after the homeowners were awakened by their security alarm and witnessed a man standing in their house. One of the residents yelled at him, and he fled the scene. No thefts or damages were reported.
Ederhof was located nearby and taken into custody. During the investigation, police say he was not forthcoming about his real identity and provided police with a false name.
He has been charged with break and enter with intent, public mischief and failing to comply with the conditions of an undertaking. Police say he now remains in custody.
Earlier the same day, Ederhof was released after being arrested on charges related to random and hate-related graffiti on residential properties in Crescentwood the morning of January 2.
