Brandon’s Community Sportsplex (BRANDON.CA)
The Manitoba government will spend more than $1 million on infrastructure upgrades in Brandon aimed at improving recycling services and supporting recreation and tourism.
Premier Wab Kinew made the announcement in the western Manitoba city on Tuesday.
The funding includes $400,000 for upgrades at the Eastview Landfill to help create a consolidated waste and recycling site, $400,000 to renovate team changerooms and public washrooms at Andrews Field, and $235,000 to resurface the parking lot at the Brandon Community Sportsplex.
Kinew said the investments will help reduce municipal costs and support long-term sustainability, noting the upgrades are expected to help keep property taxes lower while improving everyday services for residents.
The landfill upgrades are expected to improve efficiency and increase recycling capacity, while improvements at Andrews Field will modernize aging facilities and add better accessibility. At the Sportsplex, resurfacing work will improve safety, fix drainage issues, and extend the life of the parking lot by up to 20 years.
