Winnipeg police tracked down a suspect seeking medical care after he drove a vehicle into a St. Boniface house early Tuesday.
Officers on patrol first spotted a white Honda Pilot without a front licence plate at around 2 a.m. and followed the driver into a parking lot in the 300 block of Provencher Boulevard.
A female passenger was let out of the vehicle as the suspect aggressively took off before police could initiate a traffic stop.
Police say the vehicle sped away westbound on Provencher Boulevard in order to avoid the officers.
A short time later, police were notified that a house in the 200 block of Dollard Boulevard had been struck by the same vehicle, causing significant damage. Nobody inside the residence was injured as a result of the crash.
Police located and arrested the suspect just after 3 a.m. at St. Boniface Hospital, where he was being treated for injuries sustained in the collision.
A 41-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences, including failing to comply with the conditions of a release order. He remains in custody.
