A Winnipeg man is facing multiple charges after a late-night break and enter in the RM of Armstrong.
Gimli RCMP say they were called at 10:10 p.m. on January 12 to a residence on Highway 229 after a homeowner reported finding an unknown man asleep on the garage floor when they returned home.
Police say the suspect woke up, began throwing items around and assaulted one of the homeowners, who was able to escape and call police.
When officers arrived, they located the man asleep inside a locked vehicle in the garage. RCMP say the suspect became combative when awakened and fought with officers. A Taser was deployed after repeated attempts to control the suspect.
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution and later released back into police custody. One officer was injured during the incident and is expected to make a full recovery.
Trevor Roesler, 40, has been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, break and enter, assault with a weapon, and resisting arrest. He remains in custody.
RCMP continue to investigate.
