United Way Winnipeg and the Manitoba government have announced a renewed, multi-year commitment to For Every Family, a community-led initiative that supports a network of family resource centres across Winnipeg.
The partnership guarantees at least three years of funding, from 2025 to 2028, to sustain prevention-focused services for families, with work underway to extend the investment beyond that timeframe.
The province has increased its annual contribution to the program from $1.5 million to $2 million, contingent on matching community funding. United Way Winnipeg and its donors have committed to meeting that match, securing the initiative’s continued delivery and stability.
“This announcement reflects confidence in a model that works,” said Matthew Cutler, president and CEO of United Way Winnipeg.
“For more than 10 years, For Every Family has quietly strengthened families and communities across Winnipeg. Sustained funding gives organizations the stability to plan, adapt, and focus on impact, reinforcing that prevention, trust, and community leadership are the right long-term approach.”
Funding will support ongoing, relationship-based family supports and allow for the expansion of Child and Family Services liaison positions at nine family resource centres. The roles help families navigate systems, access services, and advocate for their needs, while operating independently from formal CFS agencies to build trust and encourage early intervention.
