A man working as a security guard was taken to hospital after being robbed and struck with a weapon in the 300 block of Main Street on Friday.

Winnipeg police say officers were called around 1:45 p.m. after reports of a robbery outside a building in the area.

Investigators learned the victim noticed someone rummaging through his property, which was on the ground nearby. When he confronted the suspect, he was struck in the head with a metal object. The suspect then fled with the victim’s belongings.
