Manitoba RCMP say a 26-year-old Minnedosa man is facing charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a couple and threatening to shoot them early Sunday morning.

Spruce Plains RCMP were called at around 1:10 a.m. after reports of a weapons-related incident at a residence in Rapid City. Police say two men had arrived at the home and an argument broke out between one of the men and the couple. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pointed a shotgun at the pair and made threats before leaving the scene.

About 20 minutes later, officers tracked the suspect to a residence in Minnedosa, where he was arrested. A search warrant was executed at the home, resulting in the seizure of a replica firearm, homemade firearm parts, and ammunition.

John Moffat, 26, of Minnedosa, has been charged with pointing a firearm and uttering threats. He was remanded into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
