The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma, the club announced late Thursday.
Elgersma, 24, was selected by Winnipeg in the second round, 18th overall, of the 2025 CFL Canadian Draft. The London, Ont. native stands 6-foot-5 and 227 pounds out of Wilfrid Laurier University.
After the draft, Elgersma signed with the Green Bay Packers and appeared in three NFL preseason games, completing 16 of 23 passes for 166 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. Following his release, he drew interest from the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins before joining the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL, where he did not see action due to work visa issues.
Elgersma won a U Sports First Team All-Canadian that year and a Second Team All-Canadian in 2023, and became the first quarterback from a Canadian university to participate in the Senior Bowl.
