Two Winnipeg men are facing multiple charges after police raided an Elmwood residence and seized prohibited firearms, drugs, and stolen property.

Police began investigating reports of drug trafficking and firearms at a Watt Street address earlier this month. On Thursday, officers executed a search warrant with support from tactical and drone units, arresting both men without incident.

Seized from the residence were three prohibited or restricted firearms — including two loaded .22 calibre semi-automatic rifles, one of them sawed-off — along with a fourth .22 calibre rifle, 174 grams of methamphetamine, 50 grams of fentanyl, and a small quantity of hydromorphone. Police also recovered approximately $10,000 in Milwaukee brand power tools, $1,725 in cash, and drug packaging materials.

Edward Dwayne McNabb, 40, and Robert Jeffery McNabb, 44, have each been charged with multiple offences and remain in custody.

“The investigation stemmed from multiple reports from community members of concerned with local drug trafficking involving this Elmwood residence,” police said in a release. “In addition, the suspects and residence were directly attributed to a rash of recent drug overdoses in the community.”
