The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to three separate fires across the city on Sunday.
The first call came at 10:21 a.m., when crews were dispatched to a structure fire at a single-family bungalow on Roberts Crescent. Firefighters found smoke inside and launched an interior attack, bringing the fire under control by 10:57 a.m. Occupants had already evacuated safely with their pets. The fire is believed to have been accidental.
Shortly before 6 p.m., crews responded to a grass and brush fire at the Transcona Bioreserve, arriving to find a blaze covering roughly 4,000 square metres. Firefighters used handlines and specialized wildland equipment to contain the fire, while a WFPS drone directed crews to hotspots. The fire was declared under control at 6:24 p.m.
Just after 8 p.m. the same evening, firefighters were called to a vacant two-and-a-half storey residence in the 200 block of Simcoe Street. The fire was under control by 8:42 p.m. No occupants were found and no injuries were reported.
All three incidents remain under investigation. No damage estimates are available for any of the fires.
