Two people are facing charges following a violent disturbance at a rural Manitoba residence that escalated to an alleged attempt to grab an officer’s firearm.
Winnipegosis RCMP responded to a disturbance at a home in the RM of Mossey River last Sunday morning. Officers arriving on scene found a vehicle in the driveway with all its windows smashed and heard a commotion inside the residence, including the sound of breaking glass.
Upon entering the home, officers encountered an adult man and woman. The man was arrested, but as officers attempted to leave the residence with him, the woman pushed a door into two officers. She then went outside and attempted to grab an officer’s firearm before being arrested herself.
The 36-year-old man faces charges of assault and mischief over $5,000. The 32-year-old woman faces four counts of resisting arrest, disarming a police officer, two counts of assaulting a police officer, and breach of recognizance.
Both were released on conditions pending their next court appearance.
