A 59-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting and threatening three healthcare workers at the Grace Hospital.

Police say the man was being treated at the facility late Thursday night into Friday when he began behaving aggressively and making sexually inappropriate comments to staff. His behaviour escalated to the point that hospital security placed him in secure restraints.

During the course of his treatment, two healthcare workers were sexually assaulted, and a third was verbally threatened. One worker had her clothing ripped as the man attempted to bite her.

Officers responded and took the man into custody at around 2 a.m. on May 1.

He is charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of assault, and uttering threats to kill or cause bodily harm. He was released on an undertaking.
