A 23-year-old cyclist is in critical but stable condition after being struck by a pickup truck on Dugald Road early Wednesday.
Winnipeg police responded at approximately 5:30 a.m. to the area near Dugald Road and Murdock Road, where they found the injured man in a ditch just east of the intersection. Officers provided first aid until the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service arrived. The man was transported to hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the 2018 Dodge Ram, a 27-year-old woman, remained at the scene and spoke with police. Investigators later confirmed she was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s licence.
Police continue to investigate. Anyone with dashcam, security, or cellphone video from around the time of the incident is asked to contact police at (204) 986-7085 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (204) 786-TIPS.
The South Transcona roadway was closed to eastbound traffic for approximately five hours as investigators worked at the scene.
