A Winnipeg man is facing a lengthy list of charges after a Sunday evening standoff that required a tactical police response.
Winnipeg police were called to a home in the 500 block of Herbert Avenue at around 5:45 p.m. for an armed and barricaded incident.
Police say the suspect became agitated after hearing a window break, armed himself with a Taurus GX2 9mm handgun, and barricaded himself in a room with four other occupants. He allegedly waved the gun and fired it several times toward the front of the residence. No injuries were reported.
Kevin Cook McKay, 26, eventually surrendered and was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. A loaded firearm was seized as evidence.
Police also learned McKay had also allegedly pointed the weapon at a 25-year-old male resident earlier that same day. That victim wasn’t injured.
McKay faces charges multiple charges, including failing to comply with a probation order. He remains in custody.
