There’s a new aerial fire truck in the RM of Gimli to respond to emergencies in and around the community.
The RM of Gimli Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of the truck earlier this spring after it was manufactured by Austria-based Rosenbauer Group. The truck was delivered through dealer Rocky Mountain Phoenix out of Red Deer, Alberta.
“This new aerial truck is a game changer, not just for the RM of Gimli, but also for the surrounding communities in the mutual aid district,” said Mike Chudd, Gimli’s fire chief.
“Our community rallied together and we are grateful for the support of council, which recognized that we needed a new aerial fire truck.”
Features of the new aerial apparatus include a 500-gallon water tank, 20-gallon foam tank and a vertical reach of 101 feet.
The province contributed $1 million towards the truck through a previously announced grant in 2024.
