This weekend’s annual Manitoba Marathon will have thousands of runners and walkers hitting the streets of Winnipeg, prompting some closures for motorists.
The city is warning drivers of several road closures beginning this morning at 8 a.m.
Chancellor Matheson Road between Research Way and University Crescent will close at that time and remain closed until 3 p.m. Sunday, June 21.
Come Sunday, single lanes of traffic will be affected on many roads from 2 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Major impacts include:
- Full closure of University Crescent between Chancellor Matheson Road and Pembina Highway
- No access to eastbound Jubilee Avenue from Pembina Highway
- Numerous partial closures on Wellington Crescent, as the marathon route switches from Portage Avenue to Wellington this year
