A 51-year-old man has died after falling into a lake during a canoe race near Pukatawagan on Saturday.
Manitoba RCMP were notified of a possible drowning at approximately 7:45 p.m. Officers attended the local nursing station, where they learned the man had been brought in after being pulled from the water.
Police say the man was taking part in a canoe race when he fell into the lake. Although he was wearing a life jacket and was quickly pulled from the water, he was later pronounced dead at the nursing station.
Pukatawagan RCMP continue to investigate.
