A 28-year-old man is facing charges after a carjacking at gunpoint in a parking lot in the 500 block of Regent Avenue West.
Winnipeg police say just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, a man armed with a handgun approached a parked vehicle occupied by a 40-year-old woman and her daughter, demanding the keys. The pair were able to escape into a nearby business.
The suspect then approached another parked vehicle and demanded the keys from a 43-year-old man at gunpoint. When the victim tried to drive away, the suspect shot out the driver’s side window, shattering it. The victim got out of the vehicle, and the suspect fled in a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500, which was recovered abandoned a short time later.
Officers located the suspect at a business in the 200 block of Melrose Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. and arrested him without incident.
Carter Scott Muller, 28, has been charged with robbery, two counts of pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon. He remains in custody.
