Manitoba RCMP are investigating two serious collisions minutes apart in the Pembina Valley region on July 3.
At around 11:10 a.m., a truck and semi-trailer collided head-on on Highway 30, south of the Highway 14 junction in the RM of Rhineland, after the truck apparently drifted into the oncoming lane. The truck’s 78-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital in Winnipeg.
About 25 minutes later, a red SUV turning onto Road 14 West at Highway 3 crossed into oncoming traffic in the RM of Dufferin. An oncoming SUV swerved, struck a culvert and rolled into a water-filled ditch. The 47-year-old Oak Bluff driver freed himself and was treated at the scene for injuries.
The red SUV’s driver briefly stopped, then fled south on Road 14 West. She’s described as Black, wearing a purple shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call Pembina Valley RCMP at (204) 822-4476 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
