A 39-year-old man is facing charges after a preschool-aged child suffered serious injuries while in his care.
Winnipeg police were contacted on July 6 after the child was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of serious injuries.
Investigators learned the child had been in the care of the man at a residence in the 300 block of Thames Avenue earlier that day when the injuries occurred. The man contacted emergency services, and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews transported the child to hospital.
On July 7, investigators located the man in the 300 block of Thames Avenue and took him into custody.
He has been charged with aggravated assault and was detained in custody.
