A 59-year-old Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service member has been charged after allegedly breaching a protection order while working.

Winnipeg police say Christopher Bruder Goethals was required to stay a certain distance away from a protected person under the terms of his protection order. Police allege that on July 15, while working modified duties in full WFPS uniform and driving a fleet vehicle, Goethals entered an area in violation of the order.

Winnipeg police were notified, and the service’s domestic violence unit took over the investigation. Investigators arrested Goethals on Tuesday without incident.

Goethals was charged with disobeying an order of the court. He has been detained in custody.
