A 35-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into six homes and a high school in Winnipeg’s Crescentwood neighbourhood early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to numerous 911 calls at approximately 6:30 a.m. regarding a man breaking into properties in the 100 block of Kingsway. Police say the suspect, who was unknown to all victims, threw bricks and rocks through windows and glass doors to break into the homes and school, and in some cases confronted and threatened residents while stealing items from their homes.
When officers arrived, they were flagged down by one of the victims, who pointed out the suspect walking down the street while still armed with a broken liquor bottle. The suspect dropped the bottle and was taken into custody without incident.
None of the victims were physically injured. Damage was estimated at approximately $25,000.
Ralph Shane Knott has been charged with multiple offences, as well as failing to comply with a condition of a release order. He remains in custody.
