A new $1.4 million Storefront Success program has been launched to support business growth in downtown Winnipeg.

The province, city and CentreVenture Development Corporation announced the program on Tuesday, saying eligible businesses can apply for a share of the funding to improve their storefronts.

“Storefront Success will help businesses create more welcoming spaces that attract customers and investment downtown,” said Rochelle Squires, president and CEO of CentreVenture. “By investing in our storefronts, we’re investing in the vitality and future of downtown.”

Eligible applicants include small- and medium-sized retail businesses, restaurants, cafés, specialty retailers and select non-profit organizations operating within the designated program area.

Businesses may apply for funding for improvements including storefront enhancements and facade improvements, lighting and signage, windows, entrances, patios and canopies, accessibility upgrades, landscaping and public realm enhancements, interior improvements visible from the street, and professional design and technical services.

Applications are now open and will be accepted until funding is fully allocated. Applications will be reviewed quarterly, with deadlines of September 30, 2026, December 31, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
