Transcona councillor Russ Wyatt is facing new charges relating to a historical sexual assault investigation by Winnipeg police.
Police say they began looking into allegations in April after receiving information from a survivor of an alleged sexual assault that occurred in October of 2023.
According to police, the survivor made an acquaintance in July 2023 with another adult man on a social website, and they met in person on more than one occasion.
“During one of the occasions, they met at a residence in the southwest area of the city,” police said in a release. “While at the residence, the survivor was provided an illicit drug and was sexually assaulted.”
Wyatt, 56, was arrested on Monday and charged with sexual assault and administering a noxious thing with intent to endanger life or cause bodily harm.
He was released on an undertaking.
Wyatt was also arrested on April 2 of this year after a search warrant turned up seven grams of psilocybin, or magic mushrooms (worth approximately $240), in his east Winnipeg residence, according to police.
Just days earlier, on March 24, Wyatt was arrested as part of an investigation stemming from February 2026 on allegations he provided an illicit drug and sexually assaulted a man in December 2025.
The charges haven’t been tested in court.
Wyatt is currently on leave from his city council duties.
